Memorial Day Weekend in The People’s Republic
It looks to be beautiful weather in The People’s Republic of Davis, and since it’s Memorial Day Weekend there simply aren’t that many cultural/entertainment options. So, in addition to solemnly raising your flag and thoughts to those armed service members who have died in the name of these United States, I suggest that you also create the perfect pool party for you and yours.
PS – Don’t say I didn’t warn you about one of the coolest musical events to happen in Davis in some time… Pink Martini will descend on the Mondavi Center on Tuesday, July 5th at 8pm… buy your tix now, it will sell out, trust me on this!
“Genre-hopping and über-hip, Pink Martini bring a globetrotting blend of cosmopolitan sounds to the Mondavi Center. As Pink Martini bandleader and pianist Thomas Lauderdale says, “If the United Nations had a house band in 1962, then hopefully we’d be that band.” Their latest album, Splendour in the Grass, is a virtual carnival of musical influences, with one grand purpose: to rebuild a culture that sings and dances.”
