This Week in YOUR Government
Monday, April 4 – April 8, 2011
Today Yolo County Elections will mail ballots for the first mail-only election in Yolo County. Keep your eyes peeled for this envelope, for YOUR opportunity to vote. Ballots may be returned by mail – postage paid – so long as they are received at Yolo Elections by May 3. You may also deliver your ballot in person, or return it to the specially marked dropbox at the Davis branch of the Yolo County Public Library, by 8:00 pm on May 3.
All registered voters will receive the ballot. Not sure if you are registered to vote? Check here. You may register through April 18.
The ballot contains one question:
Recognizing cuts in state funding, shall the Davis Joint Unified School District be authorized to levy an emergency special tax for a period of two years not to exceed the annual rate of $20.00 per dwelling unit for multi-dwelling parcels and $200.00 per parcel for all other parcels, to fund essential school programs including core subjects, elective classes, reduced class sizes, counselors and school site safety?
Voters are asked to answer “yes” or “no.” Successful passage requires that two-thirds of voters returning their ballots answer yes.
