A Fresh New Weekend in the People’s Republic

In case you couldn’t tell from the increased population around town, UC Davis is back in session!  While locals might be rolling their eyes at the 1000% increase in wobbly bikes on the road, I remember this time as a super-exciting time as a freshman.  A new set of upperclassmen are ready and willing to make fun of those gaggles of freshman on late-night trips to get boba tea/frozen yogurt (which was not readily available when I was their age…  wow that makes me feel old), and questing to get into that “exclusive” fraternity party.

However, there are a lot of great things about the freshman mentality which would be great to hold close year-round.  I wonder what the world would look like if we all a fostered a freshman’s drive to meet their neighbors, excitement for the city which they’re living in and fascination in the world around them.  Who knows?

Try to embrace this breath of new air into the People’s Republic, and remember:  bike carefully!!
