This Week in Your Government

Monday, August 9– Friday, August 13, 2010

Where does the summer go?  Must it be August already?  Could we rewind and do July again?  With the wonderful weather we’ve been having, there is no reason not to extend the summer …

Alas, the Davis School Board returns to work this week to help prepare for the students’ return later this month.  A short meeting is scheduled for Tuesday morning.  Continuing off the regular schedule, the next full public meeting will be Thursday, August 26.

City Council and commissions are quiet this week.  Yolo County offices are closed for furloughs on Friday.

The following are your opportunities to participate in the public process this week.  Click on links for locations and full agendas.  As always, if important events have been overlooked, add them as a comment.

Tuesday, 10 August 2010

8:00 am – Davis Joint Unified School District Board of Education - approval of new personnel, restoration of three full-time equivalent school secretary positions.

10:00 am – COUNTY – Cache Creek Technical Advisory Committee

11:00 am – COUNTY – Orientation for new Yolo County volunteers - In an effort to meet challenges resulting from state and local funding shortfalls, along with increased costs, Yolo County will be experiencing some department closures during the 2010/11 fiscal year. To meet the needs of the public visiting the offices of the Auditor-Controller/Treasurer-Tax Collector or the Assessor, which will be closed on Fridays, a kiosk will be staffed with docents generously volunteering their time who can direct visitors to resources on the county’s website, take information or provide answers to frequently asked questions related to these departments. Those interested in this volunteer opportunity are invited to attend this orientation.

Thursday, 12 August 2010

8:30 am – COUNTY – Planning Commission

2:00 pm – COUNTY – Yolo County Housing
