This Weekend in the People’s Republic

Earlier this week, I found myself super-stressed by multiple facets of my life:  namely the future and my present.  I’m sure you don’t want me to go into the vivid detail, but when a friend suggested I make an evening-trip to Davis, I thought about it for approximately 46 seconds, hopped in my car and drove up 680.

I grabbed Tapioca tea with my good friends from the dorms, talked about my current plans (more like daydreams for the future) and listened to theirs.  I drove by my old house to catch up with one of my housemates and re-shave my head. The evening ended abruptly at another friend’s house when their electricity cut out in the middle of “Forgetting Sarah Marshall”.  We went outside for a bit to look at the stars in the pitch-black quiet of what seemed like an abandoned apartment complex.  It was beautifully eerie.

I don’t think I realized how much I was going to miss this town until I was driving home the next day (taking the country roads along Russell), feeling much better than I had all week.

So, I guess I wanted to thank you, Davis, for being spectacular!

Get thee outside for all the events this weekend!  So much right and relevant culture it’s ridiculous!!
