This Week in Your Government

Living in a college town, even if you’re not affiliated with the local institution of higher learning, means that your sense of a yearly calendar is somewhat different.  With the academic summer upon us and the streets less crowded, I feel the need to break from regular life. Don’t you?

But, your appointed representatives in the officialdom of Davis apparently feel no such need.  This week has several opportunities to witness and participate in all of the efforts to maintain and improve our collective quality of life.

Speaking of appointed representatives, perhaps you should consider exercising your public service muscles by applying for a City commission.  Come September, every single group will have some openings.  No experience with government?  No problem.  We need enthusiastic, well-informed and thoughtful consensus builders with backgrounds in a variety of different issues.  Click HERE to find out how you can give back to Davis.

Kemble K. Pope chooses to be a downtown Davisite and is proud to have been born a 6th generation Texan. He likes to garden, play with his huge dog in the great outdoors and say, "No... maybe... ok, but just a little" to folks who ask him to volunteer.
