This Week in Your Government

Monday, July 5– Friday, July 9, 2010

This is a quiet but significant week in your government.  On Tuesday, Ruth Asmundson and Lamar Heystek will step down from their elected responsibilities on the Davis City Council.  The community is invited to attend a reception in their honor at 6:30 pm at Community Chambers.

Ruth has served for eight years and Lamar for four.  The Davis Voice thanks them for their dedicated service and wishes them the very best in future endeavors.  Lamar’s new spouse and Ruth’s young grandchildren will keep their days from turning dull.  There is, after all,  life after City Council.

But don’t tell Rochelle Swanson and Joe Krovoza, newly elected in June.  They will be sworn in at the July 13 Council meeting.  At the same time, Don Saylor will crown his service on the Council by becoming the next mayor of Davis.  Stephen Souza and Sue Greenwald continue their service for another two years.

The County Board of Supervisors and the Board of Education are dark this week, but there are a few other opportunities to participate in the public process.  Click on links for locations and full agendas.  As always, if important events have been overlooked, add them as a comment.
