District Dollars Updated
The Davis Board of Education will adopt a final budget by July 1. Originally facing budget reductions in the amount of $5.6 million and the loss of more than 88 full-time positions, the district’s budget situation has improved significantly with recent developments:
- The district reached agreement with employees for $1,178,00 in salary reductions in exchange for five fewer work days. This will restore almost 26 full-time positions for the 2010-11 school year.
- DJUSD received donations from the community in the form of a $1.4 million grant from the Davis Schools Foundation. This will restore an additional 22 full-time positions for the 2010-11 school year.
To better understand the impact of the developments on the budget reduction plan view updates at www.DistrictDollars.org.
On Thursday, the Board will receive a report on the collective results of the “What Do You Value?” interactive exercise. You may participate and share your education priorities through midnight Tuesday.
