This Week in Your Government

Monday, April 5 – Friday, April 9, 2010

Davis may seem a little too quiet this week.  Though third quarter at UC Davis is in full swing and the state Legislature is back in session, this is Spring Break for the students of the Davis Joint Unified School District and their families.

However, the County Board of Supervisors and Davis City Council continue working on your behalf.  Some information to share on their efforts:

City Seeks Nominations for 2010 Thong Hy Huynh Awards

The city of Davis Human Relations Commission is seeking nominations for this year’s Thong Hy Huynh Memorial Awards. The Commission will honor individuals and community organizations that have made significant contributions in resolving or improving civil and human rights issues in the city of Davis. The Commission encourages groups and individuals to submit award nominations prior to the deadline of Friday, April 16, 2010 at 4:00 p.m.

The award was established to acknowledge the racially motivated stabbing death of high school student Thong Hy Huynh on the Davis Senior High School campus in 1983. The annual awards recognize achievements in the areas of human and civil rights.

For more information visit the City of Davis website.
