What if Climate Change is a Global Hoax?

Enough about Davis.  The Climate Action Community Forum series will look beyond our green borders, “Searching the Globe for Climate Solutions,” as its next program Thursday, Feb. 25, at 7 p.m. at International House, 10 College Park at Russell Blvd.

Jeff Loux, director of the land use and resources program for UC Davis extension, will describe “Ecologically-based Neighborhoods of Northern Europe.”  Armed with superb color pictures from his annual summer trips around the most climate friendly cities in northern Europe, Loux will show what a really green urban environment looks like.

Kurt Kornbluth, founder of the UC Davis program of international energy technologies, will explore the prospects for low carbon technologies in impoverished third world communities.  In his talk, “Energy Strategies for Underserved Communities in Developing Countries,”  Kornbluth draws on years of experience to show why most low carbon technologies designed for poor people fail.

Larry Greene will deliver a “Report from Copenhagen,” where he was a participant in a number of panels at the Climate Change Summit.  Greene, who lives in Davis, is executive director of the Sacramento Metropolitan Air Quality Management District.

Davis Mayor Ruth Asmundson will chair the evening.

The community forums are organized by Jenifer Segar for the Valley Climate Action Center (formerly YEEP).   They are co-sponsored by the city’s Climate Action Team.  This program is also sponsored by International House.

Mark Braly is Chairperson of the Davis Planning Commission and a member of the Davis Climate Action Team.
