This Weekend in the People’s Republic
This is my first winter season with a pair of rain boots, and I am enjoying myself quite well, thank you! Rain or shine, I can finally squelch across lawns, slosh into mud and tromp through puddles like any respectable six-year-old. It’s very empowering! Not to mention the fact that the swell, near-neon colors really brighten my midterm-y mood…
I could turn this into a pretty cheese-tastic metaphor about how, with the right tools and attitude, anyone can turn messes and obstacles into something happy, fun and totally doable. But then again, I could just direct you to my good friend Gene Kelly.
By the way, if anyone wanted to make my day, a live rendition of that video would be a good way to start. Minus the splashing at the end. That might get annoying.
Now, I’m not asking you to tap-dance. I’m just suggesting that you put on those rain boots and get thee outside. After all, there’s a whole world of right and relevant culture out there… Enjoy!
