Get OUT Into The People’s Republic
Last week, I shaved my head. I’m not BALD, but it’s the shortest I’ve ever gone. I must say, I’m really enjoying it. I’ve learned a lot of neat things, and had a lot of weird experiences. Like, I have a huge natural cowlick on the front of my head, and the wind on one’s scalp is a very, very strange sensation.
Now, you might be wondering why I did it. I don’t blame you! I’ve been aware that I care FAR too much what people around me think of me, and I wanted to make a decision that would force me to come to terms with the fact that I can’t please everyone. However, everyone has so far (ostensibly, at least) liked it. So much for that attempt at personal growth! I also had been considering it for a while. I decided to finally just go for it. Impulsive decisions are great!
So, I have a challenge for all of you Davisites. DO something different and unexpected. Act on that thing you’ve been kicking around in your head for a little bit now. Or, find something new and exciting and just go for it! Spring is right around the corner and it is a time of new beginnings and fresh starts… And there are plenty of right and relevant cultural opportunities for you to branch out and just DO. Go ahead. Get thee outside (of your personally constructed box)!
After all, the worst thing that can happen is that someone asks, “What the hell happened to your head?”. Right?
