This Weekend in The People’s Republic

I have very little to say this week.  Midterms have turned my brain to mush.  Good times.

So, I will give you some facts that I find both interesting and random.  I hope you enjoy!!

Mark Twain would have fit in just perfectly in Davis. Composite photo from the Dave Thomson collection.

1)      If you wanted to start a Knock-Knock joke in French, you’d say “Toc-Toc”.  In Dutch, it’s “Klop-Klop”.

2)      You might have known about a “pride” of lions and a “murder” of crows.  Did you know that a group of jellyfish is called a “smack”?  Pretty cool, huh?

3)      Don’t sell hollow logs in Tennessee.  It’s illegal!!

4)      Chocolate chip cookies were invented by mistake.

5)      Among the many awesome things Mark Twain said, one was “Get a bicycle.  You will not regret it.  If you live.”

Enough of this digitized silliness.  Get thee outside and enjoy some great right and relevant culture!!
