This Week in YOUR Government

Monday, January 25 – Friday, January 29, 2010

I grew up in a home that always watched the State of the Union address on television.  I often think that my patriotism stems from those rousing (the bombastic introduction of the President by the Sergeant at Arms of the House of Representatives) and riveting (adults talking back to the President as if they were having a conversation) events that so casually mixed pomp (the splendor of the House chamber) and partisanship (one half of the room standing and cheering while the other half sat with stony countenances.)  This week, President Barack Hussein Obama will deliver the State of the Union amidst a sea of political uncertainty.  The time for talk is long gone and our so-called liberal leadership has a limited window of opportunity to affect real change.  Here’s hoping that some major announcements are made this week.

Locally, there are quite a few interesting meetings occurring.
