This Week in YOUR Government
Monday, December 21 – Friday, December 25
Furloughs and vacation days … the public employees and elected representatives of Yolo County, the City of Davis, the Davis Joint Unified School District, UC Davis, and the California State Legislature are on Winter Break through January 4, 2010.
There are no public meetings this week, but here are a few reminders from City of Davis and Yolo County websites:
City Offices Alter Hours During Holidays
As has been the practice in recent years, several City offices will have altered hours during the holiday season in an effort to conserve energy and reduce operating costs. City employees are required to take vacation leave or leave without pay when offices are closed.
City Hall, which includes the City Manager’s Office, Finance, Community Development, and the Community Services offices, will be closed from Thursday, December 24th through Friday, January 1st, as will Child Care Services at 600 A Street and the Parks and General Services Corporation Yard at 1818 Fifth Street. The Veterans Memorial Center will be closed from December 25th through January 4th, with the exception of private rentals.
Utility bill and parking citation payments may be dropped into the designated drop box in the parking lot of City Hall.
The Elderly Nutrition program will be serving meals at the Senior Center and delivering Meals On Wheels for seniors, December 24th, 28th, 29th, 30th, and 31st. Davis Community Transit will continue regular operation.
Emergency services will continue uninterrupted. However, the Fire Business Office and Public Works will be closed December 24th, 25th, 31st, and January 1st. The Police Business Office will be closed Thursday, December 24th at noon and Thursday, December 25th and January 1st.
All City offices will resume normal business hours Monday, January 4th.
Is Today a Good Day to Burn?
On September 15th 2009, City Council adopted a resolution establishing voluntary “no burn” days for the curtailment of all wood burning devices to protect public health from wood burning smoke emissions.
From November through February, “No Burn” days are established when PM2.5 is 25 micro-grams per cubic meter or higher as determined by the Yolo Solano Air Quality Management District.
Obtain today’s burn status and more information on the Air District’s Don’t Light Tonight Program.
