Davis signIt’s Thanksgiving Week and the students of the Davis Joint Unified School District are on holiday.  The California State Legislature is also in recess.

The City of Davis has posted the following message on their website:

  • As a result of employee furloughs, many Davis city offices will be closed on Wednesday, November 25th. Two employee groups have agreed to one-day-a-month furloughs to help reduce costs in the 09-10 budget.
  • City Hall (City Manager’s Office, Finance, Community Development, and Community Services offices), Public Works and Parks & General Services corporation yards will be closed.
  • Emergency services, maintenance, recreation programs, Child Care Services, Davis Community Transit and the Elderly Nutrition program are not affected.

And the Yolo County website notes various county offices are closed this week:

  • Alcohol, Drug & Mental Health
  • Assessor
  • Auditor-Controller/Treasurer-Tax Collector (11/25 only)
  • County Counsel
  • Elections
  • General Services (11/25 only)
  • Health
  • Human Resources
  • Parks & Resources (11/25 only)
  • Planning & Public Works
  • Veterans Service Office (11/25 only)

7:00 pm – CITY – Business and Economic Development Commission

Susan Lovenburg is the mother of three daughters (ages 13, 15 and 21) and a member of the Davis School Board since 2007. She is a contributor to the Davis Voice and currently serves as Sacramento Regional Coordinator for California Forward (www.cafwd.org).
