The Davis Voice is Born Again
On January 26th, 2008, I wrote the following words on this site:
“Our community needs to be better engaged in an online dialogue. The newly launched Davis Voice is that vital and fair forum.
Every year thousands of humans emigrate to The People’s Republic of Davis. Quickly, they come to learn that our idyllic burg is unlike most rural college towns.
Supporting the compact urban form, ubiquitous bicycle paths, and thriving Farmers Market is an unusually active, engaged, loquacious, and divergently progressive citizenry.”
Six months and 83 posts later, I was still convinced of the need for the site but I was no longer in the position to give my time so freely. I shelved the site hoping that an opportunity to re-launch with broader community support would arise in the future.
The future is here.
Stephen Souza will be joining The Davis Voice as publisher, I’ll continue as editor-in-chief and Susan Lovenburg will serve as a columnist and editor. We’ve also been developing a diverse staff of local writers who will be contributing on a regular basis on every issue under the Sacramento Valley sun.
Are you interested in writing for The Davis Voice? We welcome your contributions. You’ll be in fine company with many other Davisites who have committed to regular articles and columns including: Kaylin Adamski, John Berg, Anthony Costello, Alan Fernandez, David Fischer, Lucas & Stacie Frerichs, Steve Greenfield, Stefen Janke & Julie Van Dam, Andy Jones, Joe Krovoza, Benjamin Lewis, Susan Lovenburg, Barry Melton, Freddie Oakley, Pieter Pastoor, Ted Puntillo, Bob Schelen, Dave Taormino, David Thompson, Dan
Wolk and Kevin Wolf.
We look forward to hearing from you as we set forth on this venture. We encourage rational and civil discourse on this site, so if you’d like to comment, please take a couple of minutes to authenticate yourself. We’ll set forth some guidelines for respectful behavior with a full set of bloggers’ ethics in a future post. In short, be fair and play nice. Please forward our link to your family, friends and neighbors.

Once again, welcome to a venue that honors civility and fairness, and promotes thoughtful dialogue and commentary about the joys of being a Davisite: The Davis Voice.
Glad to see that you are trying again, Kemble. Good luck…
I look forward to participating in the revitalized Davis Voice. The key to its success as a “fair and vital forum” is active participation by many people holding a broad spectrum of views.
