Weekend in The People’s Republic

Funny Chocolate BunnySpring is here people!  Time to take a layer of clothing off and enjoy the Great Outdoors of Davis.  On Saturday and Sunday, we’ll be approaching the scorching temperature of 74 degrees Farenheit.

As usual, the Davis Farmers Market will be filled to the brim with veggies, artisan foodstuffs, freshly cooked local foods, political candidates and tourists galore (isn’t it cute when they take pictures?).

After the jump, find an abbreviated (it’s Spring Break) mix of activities to celebrate Easter Weekend.

Singer Songwriter Jim Page (MUSIC)
8pm, Odd Fellows Hall – 415 2nd Street
$12

Jim Page’s songs get right to the point.  He looks at the world clearly and reports what he sees with compassion, humor and a biting sense of irony.  And boy! can he sing and play.  If you’re ever going to get the message, this is the messenger to get it from.” – U. Utah Phillips

Bobcat Ranch Guided Hike: A Look at Restoration in Practice
8:30am

To the north-east of Stebbins Cold Canyon is the 6,800-acre Bobcat Ranch. Audubon California recently purchased the land for conservation and restoration. This is an opportunity to explore its expansive views of rolling hills, blue oak forests, and riparian corridors. The outing will focus on stewardship practices, natural habitats, and wildlife found on the ranch. Look for two additional Bobcat outings listed in this schedule. The group will meet at Steady Eddy’s in Winters @ 8:30am. Guide: Vance Russell. RSVP via e-mail: jfalyn@ucdavis.edu.

Sunday, 23 March 2008 (Easter Sunday)

It’s Easter, gather up some friends and family and celebrate the return of spring in whatever manner seems most fitting to you and your belief system.  I would suggest that you celebrate life by being outdoors.

Kemble K. Pope chooses to be a downtown Davisite and is proud to have been born a 6th generation Texan. He likes to garden, play with his huge dog in the great outdoors and say, "No... maybe... ok, but just a little" to folks who ask him to volunteer.
