Pig Day at the Farmers Market
Central Park, 7am-1pm
FREE

If you’ve never been, you’re in for a swinelicious treat.  Children and adults dressed in piggy outfits alongside pig-themed tables really brings Davis back in touch with its “rural character“.  Did I mention that the Food Bank serves free bacon? yum.  Is it odd that the the smell of freshly cooked bacon wafts over the piglet playpen? meh.

World’s Largest Bicycle Parade

On Saturday, March 1 2008, before the Causeway Classic Men’s Basketball  game against Sac State, come join the Aggie Pack in breaking the world record AGAIN for “World’s Largest Bicycle Parade!” In 2008, the Aggie Pack will be more organized, will have more free stuff, and more festivities  for all participants. Spread the word as our goal is to CRUSH the  record with over 5,000 bikes! Bring only two-wheeled bikes.

KDVS Presents… Foot Foot  &  Emily Jane White
Firehouse, 8pm
$? suggested donation

from daviswiki.org:
“Foot Foot has self-produced three albums crafted from the notebook  jottings and dream phrases of Robin Brown. The spinning dustclouds of early lineups have coalesced into the dusty matrimonial pair of Josh and Robin Brown, who travel the old Camino Real sowing their songs  amongst the California poppies.”

“Emily Jane White is a rare solo performer who can cut through noisy  club din and turn antsy foot traffic into apt listeners. Her voice  pierces the egos of those within earshot; it’s a low, lilting alto, often compared to Chan Marshall and Hope Sandoval. Ghostly melodies  float through her songs on ornate piano passages and simple guitar figures. But no matter how you find your way into White’s world, it’s  easy to stay there. Like the best songwriters, the San Franciscan  leaves room for the listener’s subjectivity, with lyrics that read more like a Cormac McCarthy novel than a diary entry.”

Aren’t you tired yet?  Go pick up a copy of the  Sunday NY Times and linger over brunch at  your favorite outdoor venue… I’m partial to the Delta of Venus or Bistro33 (its not on the menu at the Beast, but if you  ask nicely, they’ll make Eggs Benedict  for you)

Kemble K. Pope chooses to be a downtown Davisite and is proud to have been born a 6th generation Texan. He likes to garden, play with his huge dog in the great outdoors and say, "No... maybe... ok, but just a little" to folks who ask him to volunteer.
